Quack arrested for administering drugs

GURUGRAM: A quack has been arrested for illegally administering and selling medicines to the patients. The accused didn’t have a medical degree or a drug licence which is required for issuing medicines to the patients. The health officials seized drugs and injections from the doctor’s clinic and a FIR has been registered at Pataudi police station.


The department of food and drugs administration and health department conducted a joint raid on Friday. The officials had received a complaint against the private clinic in Jogiwada in Pataudi. The anonymous complainant had tipped off the department that the clinic’s owner Dr Murari Lal (50) was giving and selling medicines without being qualified for it or having a drugs licence. Lal was allegedly was consulting the patients and administered and sold allopathic and intoxicating drugs.


During the raid, the accused was found to be in possession of drugs which he was giving you the patients. The doctor even had allopathic injections and schedule H/H1 drugs without holding any drug licence. Sandeep Gahlain, drug control officer, Gurugram and Dr Vijay Kumar, deputy civil surgeon, Gurugram seize, 58 types of drugs, 19 types of partially used drugs and injections and medical instruments under Indian Medical Council (IMC) Act.


During investigations, the quack couldn’t even produce any certificate proving that he is a registered medical practitioner. Following this, a FIR has been registered against Murari Lal at Pataudi police station under sections 336 (act endangering life or personal safety of others) and 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) IPC IMC Act on Friday.


The doctor was produced in the court on Saturday and has been sent to the judicial custody.


“We are investigating for how long the accused was involved in this business and if there are any patients who suffered due to his diagnosis and prescription. He doesn’t have a medical degree or a licence to give drugs and it is a crime and puts others’ life at risk,” said Sandeep Gahlain, drug control officer, Gurugram.
