Their ownership over land they are enjoying for six decades now in question

Rebaka Demudu and Gudepu Nookaraju who live with their families and 10 other families at Addasaram in Rolugunta mandal in the district are all at sea, as the land that they and their ancestors have been cultivating for the last six decades is slipping out of their hands.

The 12 families now they find that their names have been removed from the adangal and in the web-lands.

Narrating their plight, 45-year-old Nookaraju said, “Since my birth I was under the impressing that the land belongs to us, as I had seen my father and my grandfather till the land to grow crops. And then all of a sudden one day I find that the land does not belong to us.”.

According to the farmers till 2015, the names of the 12 families were in the Adangal as enjoyers of the land and suddenly in 2017 the names were removed. “Who are entitled to till the land is our question. Even the mandal surveyor in his report in 2010, had mentioned our names in the land records. How can they suddenly disappear,” questioned Demudu. It may be remembered that some time ago farmers of Chatterjipuram, another village in Rolugunta mandal, had faced similar issue, which till date remained unresolved.

About 11 tribal families have been cultivating 24 acres of land in survey numbers 131 and 139 in Chatterjipuram, small tribal hamlet in Rolugunta mandal. Their names were recorded in the adangal as enjoyers of the land, but suddenly their names have been removed to accommodate the names of the pattadars, said V. Kiran of Ryhtu Swarajiya Vedika, who led a fact finding mission.

Petition submitted

The farmers of Addasaram and Mr. Krian met Joint Collector G. Srijana on Thursday and had submitted a petition. It is learnt that the Joint Collector has has asked the MRO to submit a report on both the land issues.
