Raising questions over Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) decision on cricketer Mohammad Shami, Uttar Pradesh Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Chetan Chauhan said that untill and less allegations were proved, one should have no right to consider him guilty.
Speaking to UNI, former cricketer said that BCCI should not rush, while taking any decision in the matter of cricketer Mohammad Shami. He said that he cannot be punished until the allegations were proved and BCCI should give him a chance.
Mr Chauhan said that it was a family dispute and police should resolve the matter with consent of both parties. Also BCCI should not be in hurry to make any decisions. He said it could be a conspiracy against Shami who is in good form and contribute in India’s win.
A case was registered against India fast bowler Mohammad Shami at Jadhavpur police station in Kolkata under several sections of IPC including 498 A, which amounts to cruelty to a woman by her husband and his relatives, on complaint of his wife Hasin Jahan.
Following the registration of FIR, BCCI expelled Shami from contract list and question marks were raised on his career. Though Shami had denied all allegations of torturing his wife and having extra-marital affairs.
