The 47th National Safety Week celebrations at the NTPC Ramagundam concluded on Saturday with prizes distributed to winners of different competitions.
During the week-long celebrations, the Safety Department organised various competitions for employees, ladies, children, contracting agencies and others to create awareness on safety issues.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, Karimnagar Deputy Chief Inspector of Factories M. Praveen Kumar appreciated NTPC for its efforts to maintain a high-level of workplace safety. Inspector of Factories Y. Srividya spoke about the high benchmark of safety at NTPC Ramagundam, especially with training and awareness being provided to employees and contract workers. On the occasion, a safety pledge was administered in English, Hindi and Telugu.
Earlier, GM (Projects) M.N. Prasad said the power station, in line with corporate guidelines, was taking all possible measures to ensure that 2018 was a ‘Zero Incident Year’. Echoing a similar view, GM (O and M) Ravindra appreciated the Safety Department for its proactive initiatives, especially during overhauls. Other senior officials and office bearers of unions and associations also reiterated NTPC’s efforts to ensure zero incidents at the workplace.
Reading out the annual safety report, AGM (Safety) Suresh Venkatesh spoke on the initiatives being implemented by his department. He also highlighted that the station recently received Greentech Safety Gold Award and Eminent Safety Gold award. Earlier, Head of HR, M.S. Ramesh welcomed the guests and stressed that the motto should be safety first. GM (Maintenance) A.K. Jain, GM (Operation) D.S.G.S.S. Babji, CMO Sashmita Dash, Senior Manager (Safety) V. Seetaram, Manager (Safety) A.V. Narasimha Reddy, employees, and others were present.
