BHUBANESWAR:
Hardik Patel, a leader of
Patidar movement in Gujarat, will address a rally of
Kudumi community on Sunday at Baripada in
Mayurbhanj district. The community is fighting for their recognition as tribals.
Hardik, who arrived at Bhubaneswar on Saturday evening on a three-day Odisha visit, will meet the community leaders at Balasore on Sunday night before attending the massive rally at Baripada.
Chandan Kumar Mohanta, general secretary of Kudumi Sena, said thousands of people from Kudumi community will start their procession from Betonati and reach at Chhau Padia at Baripada. “The Centre excluded them from scheduled tribe list in 1950. Now we are coming under other backward caste (OBC) category. Hardik’s presence will inspire our 25 lakh community people to fight against this injustice,” he added.
Hardik is likely to meet chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday, sources said.
