While launching the Saubhagya Yojana at Srinagar in Pauri district on Friday, the District in-Charge Yashpal Arya who is also the State Transport and Social Welfare Minister said that no household in the State would be left sans electricity through full-fledged implementation of the PM-envisaged project. “The people across the district should be informed of the launch of the ambitious project and the district administration and the social organisations aside from the political leaders must take the lead on the matter,” he said, adding that the people coming under the BPL category would be given free electricity connections.
The Minister on the occasion handed over Saubhagya kits to ten beneficiaries.The minister asked the district magistrate to go for a wide publicity of the yojana during Janta Darbar, Tehsil Divas and other official programmes. “This is a must as it would enable the people to learn about the project and use it to electrify their houses if they are still without power connection,” he said.
The Pauri MLA Mukesh Koli who was also present on the occasion said that he would see to it that every household in his constituency sans electricity till date would be electrified through the just-launched project.
District magistrate Sushil Kumar informed the minister that 27,000 families are still bereft of power connection in the district. He also said that the Scheduled Caste and the Scheduled Tribe people would reap benefit of the project in particular.
