The Hotel and Restaurant Association of Odisha (HRAO) has urged CM Naveen Patnaik for establishment of the Tourism Development Authority of Odisha for greater and coordinated efforts for development of the tourism sector.
In a memorandum to Patnaik, HRAO and Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO) eastern region chairman JK Mohanty said that the State Tourism Development Authority would aim at boosting the image, branding, publicity and employment generation in the tourism sector.
He said since tourism plays a vital role in GDP growth and creating jobs, Tourism Aut-hority, like Skill Development Authority of Odisha, led by a senior bureaucrat, can be an extended arm to assist Tourism Department with a continuity term of five years and can be given target in terms of tourist footfalls to the State, boosting image of Odisha through national and international publicity, branding of Odisha at different levels, attracting investments to boost the infrastructure in tourism sector, apart from giving rise to employment generation in Odisha.
