Union Minister of State for Skill Development Anantkumar Hegde has said that although India had knowledge and was developing it stage by stage, the invasions from outside hindered the development.
Speaking at the third day programmes of Entrepreneurship Summit- 2018 (E-Summit) at KLE Technological University here on Saturday, Mr. Hegde took a dig at ‘intellectuals’ saying that if he (Mr. Hegde) spoke about India’s contribution to the world in the field of science and technology, he would be chided as the one wearing ‘RSS shorts’.
Elaborating on India’s contribution he said India gave ‘zero’ to the world, which Albert Einstein described as a great contribution. “Similarly NASA had admitted that mercury could be used in aviation fuel, a discovery which was made by Shivashankar Talpade in 1895 in India. When Talpade made the discovery, he was sent to jail by the British.”
Mr. Hegde said: “There are several methods indigenously developed which work far better, including sciences like Ayurveda which has no side-effects. But if I say this, I will be chided”.
The Minister gave several examples of native knowledge and likened the ‘Pushpaka Vimana’ of the Ramayana to the ‘Brain Computer Interface’, being used by Stephen Hawking.
He claimed that in the next 50 years India would march much ahead of all the countries under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
All help
Mr. Hegde said his Ministry would extend all help to young entrepreneurs to develop native knowledge and innovative projects. Lauding the work being done by KLE Technological University for its various initiatives including incubation facilities, the Minister called on KLE Society to utilise the Central government in promoting skill and technology development.
Vice-Chancellor of KLE Technological University Ashok Shettar briefed about the incubation facility being provided by the university and how it had produced results. CEO of Electronic Sector Skill Council of India N.K. Mohapatra, and CEO of Sankalp Semiconductor Vivek Pawar spoke on what is being done for promoting entrepreneurship. Directors of KLE Society Shankaranna Munavalli and S.C. Metagud were present.
Earlier Mr. Hegde visited various stalls of young entrepreneurs at the E-Summit exhibition and sought details from them on their projects.
