Johannesburg - The Bulls were dealt an extra blow on top of their opening tour loss to the Reds, when they learnt that vice-captain Nic de Jager’s tour is over after he suffered a rib injury.
De Jager played in the 20-14 loss to the Reds, only his second game back since recovering from a niggle, but will now return to South Africa to undergo rehab for the injury in order to try and be back sooner rather than later, according to the supersport.com website.
De Jager will be replaced by SA Sevens star Tim Agaba, who will fly to join the team in Hamilton ahead of their game against the Chiefs this coming weekend and is likely to slot into the match day 23 almost immediately.
Agaba was named in the team for the Commonwealth Sevens tournament coming up but his elevation to the Bulls may well change that. Either way Sevens coach Neil Powell will be hoping he doesn’t pick up an injury while on tour.
The Bulls will fly to New Zealand on Sunday to prepare for their game against the Chiefs. They also face the Crusaders on their three week tour.
