France on Saturday stressed on the need for giving “new momentum” to the strategic partnership between with India.
“The strategic partnership between the two countries is crucial,” the visiting French President said here in presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi after a series of agreements were signed by two sides to deepen the bilateral relationship.
“I want India to become first strategic partner of France as the two countries have same vision,” he said. He said both the countries also share same goal in space sector and pointed out at the significance of International Solar Alliance both France and India will be hosting in Delhi on Sunday.
Agreeing with Prime Minister Modi on civilisational bond between two countries, he said there is also need for enhanced cooperation in tourism and culture.
“India will be the guest honour at the Book Fair in France in 2020,” he said.
“We can make a joint commitment on climate,” the French President said referring to the Memorandum of Understanding signed between National Institute of Solar Energy under the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy and the National Solar Energy Institute, France.
“It is also important to take steps for reducing carbon emission,” he said.On defence cooperation and also other sectors, he said there are long term projects which are mutually beneficial to both sides. He said French is committed to global peace and both India and France will work together to fight global terrorism.
