Cape Town – Charlize Theron and David Oyelowo taught each other slang from their native languages and we are so here for it.
The pair are currently promoting their new film Gringo but caught up with Vanity Fair to share some sayings well-known to their African home languages, Afrikaans and Yoruba.

First up was South African beauty Charlize who shared the meaning of sayings including: “Bakvissie,” “moenie die hoender ruk nie” and “pomp”.
FYI, David totally nailed the pronunciation of “Moenie die hoender ruk nie” directly translated to “don’t shake the chicken” and is going to use it in the future.
Up next was the British-Nigerian actor who opted to act out the meaning of his slang words, which included: “Mi ofe gbo,” “nyash” and “oloshi”.
“Mi ofe gbo” was the one phrase Charlize guessed right, which translates to “I don’t want to hear it.”
