In Uttar Pradesh, campaigning for by-elections on Phulpur and Gorakhpur Lok Sabha seats concluded this evening.

The Election Commission has banned publication of poll-related advertisements by the candidates without prior approval of the advertisement-related poll committee.

AIR Lucknow correspondent reports that senior leaders of main political parties campaigned for their respective candidates.

A total of 22 candidates, including BJP, SP and Congress are in contest from Phulpur in Allahabad district and 10 candidates from Gorakhpur seat.

BSP has announced to support the SP candidates for both the seats.

The Election Commission has taken several measures to increase the voters participation in voting and to insure free and fair polling.

Polling will be held on Sunday and counting of votes on March 14. Both the bye polls have been necessitated following resignation of UP CM Mr Yogi from Gorakhpur seat and Dy CM Mr Maurya from Phulpur Lok Sabha seats after their elections to State Legislative Council.
