A Parliamentary delegation from the Republic of Korea, headed by Chung Sye-kyun, Speaker of the National Assembly of Korea, called on the Vice-President and Chairman, Rajya Sabha, M. Venkaiah Naidu in Parliament House on Thursday.
Welcoming the delegation, the Vice-President said that recent years have seen enhanced contacts between the parliamentary institutions of India and Korea and the present visit would add further momentum in this direction. He congratulated South Korea for successfully hosting the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics in February this year.
Stressing the importance of civilisation linkages and deep people to people bonds in strengthening the bilateral relations, the Vice-President said that the growing ties between the two countries are reflected in the elevation of the relationship to a 'Special Strategic Partnership' in the year 2015.
India sees Korea as a natural partner for mutually beneficial development. Naidu said India was keen to create a broad-based strategic partnership with Korea to harness the potential of bilateral relations.
