Man dead after ute and truck collide on Pacific Highway

A man has died in a truck and ute smash on the Pacific Highway north of Sydney on Friday afternoon.

Police said the ute and a Coles truck collided as they were travelling north on the M1 highway at Mount White about 4.45pm.

The male driver of the utility died at the scene. His identity has not been confirmed.

The male driver of the truck is not believed to have been seriously injured.

A NSW Ambulance spokesman said paramedics found two patients trapped in the wreckage when they arrived.

Motorists have been warned of lengthy peak-hour delays, with two of three northbound lanes of the highway closed near Morgans Road about 6pm.

A NSW Ambulance rescue helicopter is at the scene.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
