Man bludgeons younger brother to death, arrested

Coimbatore: A drunken brawl between siblings ended in tragedy when a 45-year-old man bludgeoned his 43-year-old younger brother to death at Arivozhi Nagar at Madukkarai here on Friday morning. Police arrested the accused, who was later remanded in judicial custody.
The deceased was identified as K Senthil Kumar, a native of Anna Kulam in Virudhunagar district. A daily wage labourer, he used to stay in a bus stand at Madukkarai, while his wife Bharani Karthika, 37, and daughters Nagalakshmi, 8 and Nandhini, 7 were residing in Virudhu Nagar, the police said.

According to an investigating official, Senthil Kumar was a drunkard and used to fight with the general public at Madukkarai.


On Friday morning, Senthil Kumar picked up a quarrel with his elder brother K Krishna Kumar, 45 of Arivozhi Nagar at Madukkarai. Both were drunk and in a fit of rage Krishna Kumar took a stone and assaulted his younger brother, killing him on the spot.


The locals informed the Madukkarai police, who rushed to the spot and arrested Krishna Kumar. He was later produced before a local court, which remanded him in judicial custody.
