Committee to look into security of HC, judges

more-in

Chief Justice of the High Court of Karnataka Dinesh Maheshwari has constituted a “security committee” to look into various aspects relating to security in the functioning of the High Court’s Benches in Bengaluru, Dharwad, and Kalaburagi.

The committee comprising two sitting judges — Justice L. Narayana Swamy and Justice Ravi Malimath — will also have to look into the security to be maintained at the residences of the Chief Justice and other judges, stated a notification issued by the Registrar-General of the High Court.

The timing of the constitution of the “security committee” assumes importance as it was done on March 7 soon after the incident of stabbing of Karnataka Lokayukta P. Vishwanatha Shetty, who is a retired judge of the High Court of Karnataka.
