14 injured after fire breaks out at Tarapur industrial area in Maharastra

At least 14 persons were injured following a series of explosion and resultant fire in the Tarapur industrial area, nearly 100 kms away from downtown Mumbai.

“No death has been reported. So far we have reports of 14 persons getting injured of whom three are serious,” Superintendent of Police Manjunath Singe said.

The explosions triggered around Thursday midnight.

Eye-witnesses said that villages in the neighbouring areas – around 10 to 15 sq kms shook because of the explosion.

“Officials and teams of Revenue, Police, Fire, Medical team are on spot,” Singe said.

The fire started at Novaphene Specialty Ltd and spread to three other neighbouring companies.

Tarapur is one of the biggest and important industrial towns near Mumbai.
