
New Delhi: President Ram Nath Kovind on Friday accepted the resignation of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) ministers in the Union cabinet with immediate effect as advised by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, said an official statement.
Civil aviation minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju Pusapati and minister of state for science and technology and earth sciences Y.S. Chowdary resigned from the cabinet on Thursday after TDP exited the government, but not its alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), protesting at not being granted the tag of a special category state.
The statement from the President’s secretariat also said that as advised by Prime Minister, the President has directed that the work of the civil aviation ministry will be looked after by the PM.
