Uttarakhand Agriculture Minister Subodh Uniyal and Haridwar Mayor Manoj Garg were present during the immersion of ashes.
Earlier, the family carrying the ashes in two urns, landed at the Jolly Grant airport in Uttarakhand's capital city Dehradun in the afternoon and then drove in a fleet of cars to Haridwar. Later, the family paid obeisance at Harihar temple in Kankhal.
The 54-year-old actress accidentally drowned in 24 February at a Dubai hotel. After official investigations and clearance, Sridevi's body was brought back to India on 27 February. She was cremated with state honours the next day on 28 February. Hordes of fans, well wishers and industry colleagues had gathered to pay their last respects to the diva.
Informed sources close to the family said the late actor had stopped at Haridwar during a film shoot in 1993 and had promised to return. It was to fulfil this wish of Sridevi that the family decided to immerse her ashes in the holy Ganga after performing a similar ritual at Rameshwaram in Tamil Nadu.
There were speculations that Sridevi's daughter Janhvi, who is currently filming her debut film Dhadak (official Hindi remake of Nagaraj Manjule's Marathi blockbuster Sairat), would take a sabbatical after her mother's sudden demise.
Quashing all such conjectures, Janhvi resumed her film's shoot; she was spotted at a Bandra locale on the sets of the Shashank Khaitan directorial. She will be seen opposite Ishaan Khatter, younger brother of Bollywood star Shahid Kapoor. While Sairat was based in Maharashtra, Dhadak will take the story's premise to Rajasthan.
