Nagpur: The current education system focuses on imparting knowledge but it is a question of debate whether students learn anything in real sense. Hence, the goal should be to ensure that students truly become knowledgeable, said Manish Jain, co-founder of Swaraj University, on Friday.
Jain was addressing the third edition of a seminar-cum-gathering ‘i-Summit’, organized by Lemon School of Entrepreneurships (LSE) with ‘Rediscovering education’ as the theme.

Education plays an important role in tackling ignorance, chaos and lack of empathy. New education models are being devised. The main aim is to encourage students connect with nature. The model at Swaraj University is built on learning through practical experiences which is proving successful. Passion and creativity are the factors that matter to achieve great feats in career, Jain said.

Nandini Parekh, educator at Riverside School, Ahmedabad, said, “No matter from where one comes, every dream is real. If education is moulded as per students’ needs, then miracles can happen. When a young mind is provided with a learning process, it not only educates him but also takes care of personality development. Schools should be a place where students can express themselves and bring out the best in them.”

U-Doo, Toomley and Giwaa, an exhibition of three different start-ups, was also held.

Deepak Menaria, founder of LSE, said, the programme was aimed at creating awareness about different topics to effectively lift the standard of the society. The participants are capable enough to understand the subject which helps in coming up with solutions and ideas to improve their future prospects, he said. Education is of utmost importance in the development of an individual and the experts’ views on methods to revolutionize it will give better results, he added.
