Browns reportedly acquire WR Landry from Dolphins
The Cleveland Browns acquired three-time Pro Bowl receiver Jarvis Landry from the Miami Dolphins on Friday, according to multiple reports.
Miami will reportedly receive two draft picks -- one in the 2018 draft, another in 2019 -- for the first player to catch 400 passes over his first four NFL seasons.
Landry, 25, signed the franchise tag last Thursday and is slated to earn $15.982 million this season unless the Browns work toward a long-term contract.
As the deal began being reported, Landry made a post on Twitter that indicated things were "about to get SERIOUS."
The Dolphins have been shopping Landry despite his high level of production because they were far apart in contract negotiations.
Landry clashed at times with controlling coach Adam Gase and was ripped by Gase after being ejected in the fourth quarter of the season finale against the Buffalo Bills.
Landry made $894,000 when he led the NFL with 112 receptions in 2017 but fell short of 1,000 by 13 yards. He also caught a career-high nine touchdowns.
The Browns are expected to attempt to work out a long-term deal with Landry.
The trade can't be formally announced until Wednesday, the start of the NFL's new year.
