NITI Aayog will work on a mechanism for implementation of Minimum Support Price (MSP) for different agricultural crops.
NITI Aayog Vice Chairman Dr. Rajiv Kumar today held a consultation meeting at NITI Aayog in this regard. In the Budget, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley had announced that it will provide MSP of 1.5 times to farmers on their production cost on all Kharif crops.
Mr Kumar emphasized the States responsibility in efficiently implementing the schemes. He said, it was decided to modify the concepts quickly on the basis of suggestions of the States and finalize the mechanism as early as possible by March end.
Minister of State for Agriculture Gajendra Singh Shekhawat along with senior officers of Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Finance, NITI Aayog and Food and Public Distribution, Prime Minister Office and various State Governments participated in the meeting.
