ITF Women’s Tennis Tournament

Kanika Vaidya of India has now entered the semi-finals of $15000 International Tennis Federation (ITF) Women’s Tennis Tournament. In a long fought out battle, she defeated Freya Christie of Great Britain seeded no 5 on the fourth day of the tournament.
Here on Thursday, after losing the first set, Kanika gave a tough fight to Freya and won the match by 6-1, 6-3 points. Now Kanika would meet Emily Webley-Smith of Great Britain in the semi-finals.
It is to be noted that $ 15000 International Tennis Federation (ITF) Women’s Tennis Tournament is being played at Arera Club tennis court that will continue till March 11.
On Thursday, the match saw variety of shots topspin lob, drop shot, chops and slices on both the flanks besides the regular forehand and backhand drives. In the second quarter final Emily Webley-Smith (Great Britain) defeated Bunyawi Thamchaiwat (Thailand) seeded no.4 after losing the first set 3-6, won the next two sets 6-1, 7-5.
The next quarter final saw Tereza Mihalikova (Slovakia) packing Prerna Bhambri (India) by 6-3, 6-2 points in one sided match. Dhruthi Tatachar Venugopal (India) defeated Riya Bhatia (India) by 6-3, 7-6 points in a one sided tie-breaker. It must be written here that this is going to be a great opportunity for players.
In the doubles semi-finals Tereza Mihlikova (Slovakia) and Ana Veselinovic (Montenegro) defeated Freya Christie (Great Britain) and Albina Khabibulina (Uzbeistan) by 7-6 (3), 7- 6 (6) points in a tight tie-breaker set.
Kanika Vaidya (India) and Rosalie Van Der Hoek (Netherlands) after losing the first set 3-6, took the next set 6-4 and clinched the match super tie-breaker 10-7 points against Emily Webley-Smith (Great Britain) and Pranjala Yadlapalli (India).
