The Cochrane Tourism Association or the CTA will be arranging an open house at the RancheHouse on May 1st, looking for community feedback on the way in which association can best address the necessity of the business community.
To quote Jo-Anne Oucharek, CTA executive director, “In the past, the Cochrane Tourism Association has been about marketing … our (current) strategy is more about taking on the role of helping the businesses,” adding that the proposal of the association is to promote joint partnerships and piggyback advertising has been “very well received.”
The CTA jointly arranged the event with the economic development department of the town.
CTA’s four objectives were highlighted in the presentation: to expand the Cochrane experience as an exceptional destination and to enhance tourism; to offer assistance, resources and partnerships to boost the current tourism products; to attract and generate new tourism products in/to town; and to improve experience via upgrading, enhancement and maintenance of municipal infrastructure.
Over cocktails and appetizers, around 60 people participated in the event to arrange and provide feedback to all the event organizers along with writing down the reasons they love Cochrane on a whiteboard comprising western vibe, close to the mountains and small-town feel.
Oucharek explained that the association is supporting fresh new faces and old to contact her before the CTA’s annual general meeting on March 20, where they are keen on new board members.
Dominic Hickey, who owns and operates of Deja Brew cafe and Killarney’s Family Pub in partnership with his wife, Zeta, said Cochrane is in search for more hotels and transit to accommodate tourism.
