Chief Minister Raman Singh on Thursday announced a special award for women in the name of India's Cleanliness Ambassador late Kunvarbai on the occasion of International Women's Day.
Addressing a Livelihood Convention as chief guest at Somni village of the district, the Chief Minister said that the award of Rs 1.50 lakh would be given to the best work done by self help groups (SHGs) working in the field of cleanliness and livelihood.
He said that an Education Hub would be developed in the district at a cost of Rs 12 crore in which 33 per cent of the seats would be reserved for girls.
The Singh said that earlier girls hesitated to ride bicycles but now can even operate e-Rickshaws and JCBs.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister distributed 30 e-Rickshaws to SHG members, three beneficiaries got vehicles for operating taxis and two beneficiaries got cheques for setting up of solar powered mini cold storages.
A total of 94 women were distributed cheques under Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana and 25 youth were given job offer letter after receiving skill training.
Remembering late kunvar bai , the Chief Minister said that she at the age of 104 years got toilets constructed under Swachch Bharat Mission.
