Allister Coetzee named Canon Eagles coach

2018-03-09 12:31

Cape Town - Former Springbok coach Allister Coetzee has been confirmed as the new head coach of the Canon Eagles.

The Japanese club confirmed the news via their official website on Friday.

The club said Coetzee had signed for the 2018/19 season.

Coetzee was heavily linked with a move back to Japan after he was sacked as Springbok coach in February.

He was relieved from his Springbok post after two tumultuous seasons which saw the national team win only 11 of 25 Tests.

Coetzee previously coached the Kobelco Steelers in Japan before becoming Springbok coach in 2016.

Before that he had coached Western Province and the Stormers.
