Four surrender for murder of ambulance driver

Two days after the murder of ambulance driver Maran alias Dhanusu of Vaithikuppam, four persons surrendered at a local court in Tindivanam in neighbouring Villupuram district.

The names of those who surrendered have been given as Manikandan, 30 and Gnanasekaran, 27 of Nellithope, Rajasekaran, 22 of Reddiyarpalayam and Gandhipan, 39 of Villianur.

All the four have been remanded to 15 days judicial custody.

The Puducherry police have detained three persons identified as Udaya, Sugumaran and Vignesh whose names had surfaced in the murder case on Thursday.

Fire breaks out

Meanwhile, a fire broke out in the house of Murthy, main accused in the murder case at Vaithikuppam on Thursday.

The police said the fire broke out at around 3.15 p.m.

On information, fire tenders were pressed into service to extinguish the fire.

Property, including furniture, air-conditioners and a refrigerator were gutted in the incident.

The reason behind the fire is yet to be ascertained, the police said.
