‘Fortnite’ Coming to Mobile Very Soon, Sign Ups Begin Monday

Fortnite Battle Royale has made a huge splash on PS4, Xbox One and PC, but now you can add Android and iOS to the game’s growing list of platforms. In a blog post Thursday evening, Epic Games announced that the full version of Battle Royale will soon be playable on phones and tablets.

Here’s a snippet from the news post:

Fortnite Battle Royale is coming to mobile devices! On phones and tablets, Fortnite is the same 100-player game you know from PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC and Mac. Same gameplay, same map, same content, same weekly updates. Starting Monday, you can sign up for the Invite Event on iOS. Support for Android will be coming in the next few months.

Fortnite’s mobile-version content will be in lockstep with its console brethren, as progress will carry across as well thanks to Epic’s unified account system. That means you can unlock tiers for your Battle Pass on the go and fully enjoy the fruits of your labor on PS4 at home. Speaking of PS4, Fortnite on mobile will also have full cross play support between PS4, PC and Mac. This relationship allows mobile players to tap into Fortnite’s millions-strong player base. While other mobile ports of popular games exist in separate realms, Fortnite’s incarnation appears to be a truly complete experience.

As it is a robust game, Fortnite requires the following devices at minimum: iPhone 6S/SE, iPad Mini 4, iPad Pro, iPad Air 2 or a 2017 iPad. Your sad old phone won’t be enough to play this one.

HOW DO I SIGN UP FOR FORTNITE’ MOBILE?

For now Fortnite’s mobile build will remain exclusive to iOS with an eventual release on Android. On March 12, players can fill out a form on the official Fortnite website to sign up for the Invite Event. Those who receive a code will be able to invite their friends, and those who don’t will have to wait until the next round of testing begins. Epic promises to invite lots of players over the coming months. An exact time for sign-ups has not been announced.
