Sharon Tate's sister objects to Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, Jennifer Lawrence in Tarantino's Manson murders film

Debra Tate, the sister of actress Sharon Tate, who was one of the six victims of shocking murders perpetrated by the Manson family cult members, has been livid at two of the three competing Hollywood projects underway on the tragic events.

Debra, who owns the licensing rights to her late sister's image, has blasted Leonardo Di Caprio and Brad Pitt for starring in Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming Manson movie titled Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

“To [celebrities], it’s a paycheck and these people just don’t care. They are terribly hurtful to the actual family and all the living victims. They don’t give a s—t,” said Debra in reference to Di Caprio and Pitt, as reported by TMZ. She is also known to be unhappy about Jennifer Lawrence being cast to play the late actress Sharon Tate, and called her “not pretty enough”.

Brad Pitt had recently come on board the Tarantino project, joining Leonardo Di Caprio to play the character of a stunt double Cliff Booth, to Di Caprio’s Rick Dalton, a former TV star, who are the next door neighours to Sharon Tate. The movie revolves around the gruesome murder of a heavily pregnant Tate and her three friends in the mansion by members of a deranged cult masterminded by Charles Manson in 1969. The movie is aiming for a symbolic release on the 50th anniversary of the murders on 9 August, 2019.

Debra has previously also objected to the Hillary Duff starrer The Haunting of Sharon Tate, but has gone on to endorse a third film in production Tate, which chronicles the last few days of a pregnant Sharon Tate, before her murder. The Kate Bosworth starrer, directed by filmmaker Michael Polish, also has Debra Tate as a producer on board, as reported by Deadline.

“It’s been exploitative since day one. It’s been the case since the media went crazy and has perpetuated mistruths making things even more salacious. It’s now morphed into something that is more fictionalised than truth at this point. To celebrate the killers and the darkest portion of society as being sexy or acceptable in any way, shape or form is just perpetuating the worst of our society. I am vehemently opposed to anything that does that,” said Tate about the competing narratives being produced in Hollywood, as reported by Deadline.
