Vada Chennai first look released: Dhanush seems like a local hotshot in Vetrimaaran-directed film
The first look of actor Dhanush's long-awaited project, Vada Chennai, has been unveiled. The film has been in the works for three years now and the frenzy around it has only multiplied with time. The first look features Dhanush, handcuffed, peeping out of a PCR van. You can tell by his body language that he is hailed as the local hotshot. Surrounded by his own men, Dhanush looks like the leader of a small community, who often lands in trouble for his ambitiousness.

The film also stars Andreah Jeremiah, Aishwarya Rajesh, Ameer, Daniel Balaji, Samuthirakani, Kishore, Karunas, Subramaniam Siva, and Cheenu Mohan in pivotal roles. Dhanush reportedly plays the role of a national-level carrom player in the film. Although Vada Chennai is believed to be a gangster film by many, director Vetrimaaran says it's not. The film is based on the lives of a community which has been living in the same village for 35 years. Since the story spans across three decades, it will see its actors take on different looks to fit the time period they are in.
The film also marks the third collaboration between the actor and director, who have previously delivered hits like Pollathavan and Aadukalam. Apart from Vada Chennai, Dhanush has Maari 2 and an untitled film with Thenandal Studios Ltd.
