Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Thursday said the Opposition parties in the State should not politicise the issue of the Sutlej-Yamuna Link (SYL) canal and refrain from using it as a ladder to climb the seat of power.
Mr. Khattar was replying to a debate on the Governor’s address during the budget session of the State Assembly.
He offered to convene an all-party meeting to draw a line of action on the SYL issue.
“As a result of the persistent efforts made by the present government, the Supreme Court has given its decision in favour of Haryana, but the execution order is awaited from the court without which work on the canal cannot be started. The State government has got ownership of the land for the SYL canal and now the government has to take possession of it,” he said.
