In Jammu & Kashmir, the Divisional Administration Kashmir yesterday issued two-day avalanche warning till today in avalanche prone areas of North Kashmir's Bandipora, Kupwara & Baramulla; Anantnag & Kulgam in south Kashmir, central Kashmir's Budgam & Ganderbal besides Leh and Kargil districts of Kashmir Division.
The residents have been advised not to venture out in avalanche prone areas. The district authorities have put in place all precautionary measures including the State Disaster Relief Force, Police and para-medical staff with ambulances in readiness state to avert any untoward incident. State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) yesterday issued 24 hours low danger avalanche warning for Baramulla, Gulmarg, Furkian-Z Gali and Kupwara-Chowkibal-Tangdhar, Kupwara and Bandipora- Gurez- Kanzalwan sector in North Kashmir; Poonch, Rajouri, Reasi, Ramban, Doda, Kishtwar and Udhampur in Jammu region; Anantnag and Kulgam in South Kashmir; Budgam & Ganderbal in central Kashmir; Kargil and Leh Districts and Srinagar-Jammu National Highway. People living in these avalanche prone areas have been advised to take precautionary measures. Meanwhile, under current one-way traffic schedule, there will be traffic movement from Jammu towards Srinagar on Srinagar Jammu National Highway today. A traffic official told AIR that the travellers must confirm the status of the road from the Traffic Control Units or designated traffic officials before proceeding for travel on the highway. He clarified that no movement of any vehicle will be allowed from Srinagar towards Jammu.
