Aradhana at Kanchi Math on March 13

more-in

It is ten days since since Sri Jayendra Saraswati Swamigal, 69th pontiff of Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam, attained Siddi. Hundreds of devotees are visiting the Math to offer their worship to the seer, whose Brindavanam is adjacent to that of his Guru, the 68th pontiff Sri Chandrasekharendra Saraswati Swamigal. It has been an unrelenting schedule for Sri Sankara Vijayendra Saraswati, the 70th head of the Math, who is supervising the arrangements, meeting devotees and sparing time for special visitors, apart from performing the Chandramouleeswara Puja.

The 13-day rituals began on March 1, the daily routine including Brindavana puja, argya pradanam, deepa dhanam and payasa danam to the accompaniment of Veda chanting and Sukta parayanam. Eminent bhagavatars, including Sri Udayalur Kalyanaramaraman and Sri Vittaldas, are offering Namasankirtanam in the evening. Tomorrow, the tenth day ceremony will be marked by Mahapuja and Maha Abishekam. Paarvana Srardam and Narayana Bali on the 11th and 12th days (March 11 and 12) and Aradhana on March 13, Tuesday next, 9.30 onwards, will complete the proceedings.

The procedure is based on that performed for Mahaperiyava, when he attained Siddi. He shed his mortal coil on January 8 (1994) and the rituals were started the next day to culminate in Aradhana on January 21.

Those, who were not able to be present at the Adishtanam on Brindavana Pravesam, could be there during Aradhana. The next opportunity would be Brindavana Pratishta, the date for which would be announced later. Sri Sankara Math units, groups and individuals devoted to the Math are advised to perform Sraddanjali by chanting Vishnu Sahasranamam, Lalitha Sahasranamam, Veda parayanam and Sukta parayanam during the final three days.
