The State unit of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) expects the upcoming budget to focus on ease of doing business, agriculture and food industry and allocation of funds for improving the airport infrastructure, among others.
“One of the big issues we face as an investment destination is the poor airport infrastructure. The CM is looking into it as top priority and we hope funds are allocated for this,” said P. Ravichandran, chairman, CII Tamil Nadu Council & president, Danfoss Industries told reporters in Chennai.
He also hoped that the budget would revitalise the IT sector in the State, besides focusing on education. He called for specific polices for textiles, food processing, poultry and transport industry.
The CII along with the State government was setting up a Tech Forum at Madurai which would focus on artificial intelligence, machine learning, IoT and electronics hardware manufacturing.
Mr. Ravichandran also noted that the IT policy should be revisited and should include aspects of developing automotive electronics ecosystem in the State.
CII would be providing a report to the government highlighting the need to develop 14 industrial clusters, in line with the vision 2023 document.
