At ITB Trade Fair in Berlin 2018, Tourism Ireland endorses Ireland!

indexThe ITB in Berlin, largest travel trade fair in the world started yesterday on Wednesday March 7th. Tourism Minister Shane Ross partners with Tourism Ireland and 30 other Irish tourism companies at the fair, in a proposal to develop the share of Ireland’s German travel market.

 
To Ireland, Germany is the third-largest market for tourism. In 2017, the country greeted more than 660,000 German visitors. LThe ITB in Berlin, largest travel trade fair in the world started yesterday on Wednesday March 7th.The ITB in Berlin, largest travel trade fair in the world started yesterday on Wednesday March 7th.ately, Tourism Ireland introduced a new policy to perk up tourism from Germany, targeting which will make Ireland welcome 800,000 German visitors every year by 2021, showing a growth of 20%, along with seeing revenue from the holiday visitors’ increasing by 27% to €375 million every year.

 
ITB (Internationale Tourismus-Börse) will attract more than 160,000 visitors from 180 countries all over the world. Of these, around 109,000 are trade visitors, comprising significant tour operators, travel agents, airlines, travel media and bloggers, not only from Germany, but across the globe. The five-day event offers precious opportunity to network, bargain and exchange key contracts with all the powerful international tour operators and travel agents in attendance.

 
To quote Niall Gibbons, CEO of Tourism Ireland while speaking at ITB Berlin, “The large representation of our tourism partners from Ireland at ITB this year is extremely welcome – and essential in the highly competitive global marketplace. Germans who are interested in taking a holiday which involves sightseeing and local culture remain our core audience; we are also targeting people who engage in outdoor activities while on holidays. ITB provides an excellent opportunity to spread the word about the many great things to see and do right around the island of Ireland.”
