Union Petroleum and Skill Development Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Wednesday urged Chief Minister to take immediate steps to supply drinking water to all households in Barghar and nearby areas.

Pradhan made this request in a letter in which he mentioned that, during his recent visit to Bargarh and adjoining areas, people complained to him regarding the problem of contaminated water with excess fluoride.

While there is no access to piped water, residents are forced to use such water from the dug-wells for drinking and other purposes which affect their health.

“To deal with the problem, it is requested to provide drinking water to all households through pipes so that safe water for both drinking and cooking need is addressed immediately. Necessary allocation may be made in the ensuing Budget towards providing safe water to the residents of the area,” mentioned Pradhan.

He further stated that the matter may be taken with the World Bank for a loan agreement for the purpose.
