Mia Boostrom, a 2011 graduate of Dighton-Rehoboth Regional High School, is a contestant on NBC's "The Voice." The television singing competition features four celebrity singers - Alicia Keys, Blake Shelton, Kelly Clarkson and Adam Levine - who act as coaches to contestants throughout the season. Winners are selected by television viewers.

Boostrom, who previously made it to the quarterfinals of another television competition, "America's Got Talent," was chosen during Monday night's episode to be a member of singer Adam Levine's team.

The North Dighton native was also a featured performer during Taunton's 100th Annual Lights On festival in 2013.

Rick Santos, owner of Rick’s Music World on Route 44 in Raynham, said Boostrom was a regular fixture at open mic nights at Rick’s since she was a young teenager.

“She had a natural ability from the start. She has such a beautiful voice,” Santos said Tuesday.

In addition to having a lot of raw talent, she also works hard to hone her craft, he said.

“She was really good about being very consistent. And she just got better and better,” he said.

Santos said he texted Boostrom after she posted on Facebook that she had been selected on The Voice Monday by Adam Levine, lead singer of Maroon 5.

“I told her how proud we are of her,” Santos said.

Santos said Levine will now be coaching Boostrom leading up to her performance before a live audience on The Voice.

“For what she does and her style, it’s a great fit,” Santos said.
