Lucknow Metro welcomed all the female volunteers and guests from these organisation and requested them to spread their message in Metro for creating a more aware and safer world for the women. Volunteers from HUMSAFAR, NCC, Power Wings and SHEROES Hangout etc. participated in the event in LMRC to demonstrate the women oriented issues of today’s challenging world.
They travelled in Metro between Charbagh and Transport Nagar to raise awareness among the travelling female passengers inside the Metro train. All the female volunteers from these groups also tried to spread the message of the United Nation’s 2018 theme – Times is Now: Rural to Urban activists transforming women’s lives.
Lucknow Metro has always been concerned about women’s safety in metro trains and premises. From time to time, it has conducted workshops and interaction with 1090 women helpline workers to make the women passengers aware about safety features deployed in trains for their security. They also invited power angles to talk to the female passengers and resolve their queries regarding safety.
Besides installing CCTV cameras at most places, the trains also carry talk button near the first coach, which can be dialed by the women in case of emergency. The features enables them to talk to the pilot immediately to provide safety on the spot.
