Pokémon Bank Event: Hidden Ability Alola Starters Update Available

The Alolan Starters - Decidueye, Incineroar and Primarina - are finally available with their Hidden Abilities via the Pokémon Bank. Trainers with a subscription to the transfer service will be gifted these three Pokémon simply by logging-in.

Similar to the Johto Starter distributions and the Regi Trio (all six Pokémon coming with their Hidden Abilities), trainers will be able to transfer the three Starters to their Pokémon Ultra Sun, Ultra Moon, Sun or Moon game. Here’s how to download the three starter Pokémon of the Alola Region.

How to Download Alola Starters From Pokémon Bank

  • Make sure you have a strong WiFi connection, then boot up Pokémon Bank from your Nintendo 3DS system.
  • Select “Use Pokémon Bank”
  • Select the Pokémon game you want to use (note: Only Pokémon Ultra Sun, Ultra Moon, Sun or Moon can be used for this distribution)
  • You will then get a notification informing you the three Alolan Starters have been sent to the game you chose
  • Boot up your Pokémon game and head over to the nearest Pokémon Center
  • Speak to the man in the yellow and blue shirt to receive the three Pokémon. Be sure to have room in your party.

Decidueye, Incineroar and Primarina’s Hidden Abilities were introduced in 2016 with the release of Pokémon Sun and Moon.  There was no way to receive the abilities before this distribution; however, battling in the Battle Tree did reveal the Starters’ Hidden Abilities.

All three Pokémon start at Level 50 and come battle-ready so young trainers can jump into a fight straight away.

Incineroar comes with Intimidate, which cuts the opponent’s attack stat by one stage. The Fire-type Pokémon’s attacks are Fake Out, U-turn, Darkest Lariat and Flare Blitz. Decidueye comes with the ability Long Reach, which makes any attack the Grass-type uses that normally makes contact not initiate any contact-based counters. Primarina has the Liquid Voice ability, which makes any sound-based attack a Water-type move and increases it strength by x1.5.

The distribution begins March 8 and there is no confirmed end date so we suggest transferring them to the Gen 7 game of your choice as soon as possible.
