The police have made little progress in connection with the murder of the 50-year-old principal, who was shot dead at her residence in Chhawla’s Ghumanhera village on Monday night. Her brother was found dead in a village in Haryana on Tuesday morning.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) Shibesh Singh said on Wednesday, “There is no breakthrough in the case yet but we are closing in”.
Rachna Public School Principal Anita Yadav was allegedly shot in front of her husband Ashok Yadav and 15-year-old son by Naveen and three others. The police said the four men are also accused of murdering her brother Jai Kishan, who managed transport at her school, and dumping his body in a village in Badli.
The motive is suspected to be land dispute. Mr. Yadav had bought a piece of land from Naveen two years back and the accused wanted the family to return the land for free. The Yadavs had allegedly asked him to buy the land from them.
“Raids were conducted at their suspected hideouts but we did not find them. Family members, relatives and friends of the accused and victims have been questioned,” said Mr. Singh.
Stating that a few facts crucial to the murder emerged during investigation on Tuesday, police sources refused to divulge details.
