Shami’s wife cries foul over ‘violence & affair’

| | Kolkata

Hasin Jahan the wife Indian fast bowler Mohammad Shami on Wednesday brought charges of domestic violence,  including extra-marital affair  against her husband even as her father tried to play down the matter as a routine incident of family discord.

The cricketer’s wife who also visited the Lal Bazar police headquarters with her lawyer told a Bengali news channel about her husband’s extra-marital dalliances in India, Dubai and a neighbouring country saying,”this kind of physical and mental torture had been continuing for more than two years and I never got the status of a wife from him.”

She said even on foreign tours she was forced to remain confined in the hotel rooms even as her husband never took her for joy trips or shopping. He was constantly chatting with other women through FB, Twitter, instagram etc, using objectionable words, she alleged even as her allegations and screenshots of pictures and chats went viral.

“Though I raised the issue with him hoping he would correct himself he refused to do so and continued with his dirty ways,” Jehan said.”When I warned him with legal action he said nothing would happen to him and that it was she and not he who would be on the losing side.”

Though sources quoting Shami said he was being framed Jehan iterated there were attempts by his family members even to kill her.”The torture continued till late in the night but still I did not make things public as I hoped he will mend his ways. Now I have decided to take all the necessary legal steps including as I think he is not going to correct himself.”

Jehan’s father who still led a humble life not matching his son-in-laws status however sought to ignore the matter as a normal domestic standoff”that happens in every household and blows over with time.”
