Bharatiya Janata Party’s Telangana wing has accused the Telangana Rashtra Samithi MPs of raising the Muslim minority quota issue in Parliament only to please its ally the Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) and termed it “unfortunate”.
The reservation formula being followed in the country for the last seven decades is as per the Constitution.
There has been no change in the quota ever since the Modi-led NDA Government came to power four years ago, said party legislative party leader G. Kishan Reddy.
“It is foolish to push the personal agenda of KCR of increasing the quota for minorities as a national agenda as a due process has to be followed in Parliament for any such move on religion-based reservations and cannot be done overnight just because a resolution was passed in the Assembly,” he maintained.
