'Call of Duty: Black Ops 4' Confirmed, All The Rumors Were True

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 has been officially confirmed by Activision. Few details have been released about the Treyarch-developed game, but we do know Black Ops 4 will be in gamers’ hands by the end of the year.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will announce more information during a press day event on May 17. What we know for sure is Black Ops 4 will launch on PS4, Xbox One and PC, and the release date is on Oct. 12. Judging by the teaser video in the tweet above, the game will be set in either modern times or the slight future, which lines up with previous rumors.

It also looks like a zombies mode will be included, to nobody’s surprise. The Zombies modes have been some of the most popular for the franchise over the past few game releases, so it makes sense that Treyarch would deliver another one to fans who have stuck with the franchise the last few years.

One thing not mentioned in today’s announcement was the rumored Switch version for Black Ops 4. We know Nintendo is running a Nintendo Direct later today, so it’s possible the announcement will come during that event. If not, Activision could reveal the version at a later date. It’s also possible this rumor is simply inaccurate, which doesn’t seem likely given how all the others have been proven true so far.

Some may think a Call of Duty release for Oct. 12 is early, given the franchise’s history of releasing games in late October or November. The reason behind this decision is probably Red Dead Redemption 2. This behemoth of a game has the entire industry planning releases to be anywhere except around RDR2’s Oct. 26 release date. Expect to see more games announced for early October or later November in the following months.
