SOMERSET – Route 6 got shut down Thursday morning before dawn by a utility pole that fell across the roadway.

Police and utility crews were out on the GAR Highway at 6 a.m., working to clear the lines and the roadway between Brayton Avenue and Brayton Point Road.

The pole was down near the entrance to the Home Depot store. No information was available immediately on why the pole fell.

Traffic was being detoured around the site, according to the Somerset police.

The work was expected to snarl traffic in the area for several hours Thursday morning, according to the police.
