New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) moved the Supreme Court on Thursday, challenging the acquittal of Rajesh and Nupur Talwar in the Aarushi murder case.
The appeal is still to be heard by the court.
On 12 October, 2017, the Allahabad high court had acquitted the couple of the murder of their daughter Aarushi and domestic help Hemraj in 2008. By doing so, it set aside the 2013 verdict by a special CBI court in Ghaziabad that had handed them a life sentence.
The Talwars had appealed against the conviction before the Allahabad high court.
Aarushi Talwar, 14, was found bludgeoned to death, and with her throat slit in her house in Noida on 15 May, 2008. The Talwars’ domestic help, Hemraj, was found similarly murdered two days later, on 17 May.
