Police are investigating the death of person who is believed to have jumped from Sydney Tower in the centre of Sydney.
Paramedics responded to reports of a man threatening self-harm at Sydney Tower on Castlereagh Street about 2.40pm Thursday.
NSW Police said an operation was under way after a person died in the central business district.
It is understood the person jumped from the building and landed on a canopy below.
Paramedics are providing support to police. There are reports of witnesses in shock in the area.
Seven News reported a man on the tower's Skywalk removed his harness and jumped from the building.
Sydney Tower Eye said on social media: "Following an incident, the attraction has been closed until further notice."
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
Pitt Street Mall remains open.
