A 47-year-old man was killed and five others were injured after being run over by a car near Dongala Maisamma crossroads under Shamirpet police limits on Tuesday night.
The incident took place at around 11 p.m. The deceased, Lalji Yadav of Lalgadi Malakpet, had stopped his bike and crossed the road to help passengers involved in a three-car collision, said police.
Five others had also gathered at the mishap site.
“In the meantime, another car coming from Hyderabad crushed them as the driver lost control of the vehicle,” said Mohammed Abdul Razaq, sub-inspector, Shameerpet.
Yadav succumbed to injuries on his way to a private hospital in Alwal. His bosy was shifted to Gandhi hospital for autopsy and later handed over to his family.
“A search is on to nab the driver of the car, who ran over them. He is absconding, but the car has been seized,” Mr. Razaq said.
On the other hand, passengers of the car collision were lucky to escape unhurt, said police.
