Neiphiu Rio sworn-in as Nagaland CM

Neiphiu Rio, leader of the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP), was on Thursday sworn-in as the new Chief Minister of Nagaland. Governor P B Acharya administered the oath of office and secrecy to Rio and his council of 11 ministers. The oath-taking ceremony was attended by Union Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Minister of State (Home) Kiren Rijiju, BJP President Amit Shah, BJP National General Secretary Ram Madhav, and Chief Ministers of Manipur & Assam. Rio has served as the Nagaland’s Chief Minister three times before this inning. NDPP claimed to form the Government with support of 32 MLAs in the North-eastern state. Governor has asked the newly-elected Chief Minister to prove his majority on the House floor on or before March 16.
