Driver found dead in rolled car off highway near Gympie

A male driver has been found dead inside a car off the side of a highway west of Gympie.

A member of the public spotted the rolled vehicle off the Wide Bay Highway near Kinbombi and reported it to emergency services just before 3pm.

Police believe the vehicle may have rolled off the highway and crashed on Sunday.

Forensic Crash Unit officers were on the scene.

A police spokesman said the man had not been formally identified as yet, with the car registered under a woman’s name.
