Peak demand of 7,000 MW power anticipated this year: Delhi Minister

Power Minister on Thursday said a peak demand for 7,000 megawatt was anticipated in the national capital this summer and his department was prepared to handle the situation.

"As per the projections, the peak demand in is expected to reach 7,000 MW during the coming summer," an official statement quoting Jain said.

Jain said the ensured over 99 per cent power supply during peak summer months in 2017, adding that the target was to improve on this figure in 2018.

"During the 2017 summer season, witnessed an all-time peak demand for 6,526 MW .. this peak demand was successfully met by the transmission and distribution system."
